Looking to start that restoration process? We can help! Redi-Coat is a division of IPS, providing stripping and e-coat services to the general public. From vintage cars to patio furniture, anything steel can be e-coated for a durable base coat prior to painting.
The coating materials (resins, pigments, additives, etc.) are dispersed in water and held in a bath. The parts to be coated are immersed in the solution and an electrical current is passed through the bath using the parts as an electrode.
Electrical activity around the surface of the parts makes the resin directly in contact become insoluble in water. This causes a layer of resin – including any pigments and additives present – to adhere to the surface of the parts. The coated parts can then be removed from the bath and the coating is normally cured by baking in an oven to make it hard and durable.
E-coating also offers corrosion resistance in addition to other forms of protection. The durability of a product with E-coat is also unprecedented as E-coat protects against rigorous salt spray and offers dielectric as well as acid resistance, and excellent adhesion levels.
Any parts that are not steel, must be removed. Aluminum and zinc die cast will be destroyed in the cleaning process. We have different methods for cleaning these parts. This includes any Body Tags on chassis. Please inform us of any non-ferrous parts, so they can be separated. Failure to do this could cause your part to be destroyed! We do our best to watch for these type of parts, but we don't always catch them in time.
